I just bought a used 2011 mustang gt and it has a "shaker" audio system as it states on the dash, but it doesn't specify which one. I've seen online a 500 and a 1000. How can I tell?
Not sure about the newer ones, but the 06 Shaker 500 have Subs in the Doors only. The Shaker 1000 also had a Sub in the trunk on the passenger side. Both had 6 disc in dash changer. There was also a basic unit that did not have the subs and I doubt it had the 6 disc in dash changer.
Mine might have the door subs then. I have two speaker sections in my front doors. I have rather large round speakers near the bottom and a speaker cover that hides what seem to be mids and highs closer to the middle of the door.

That is how my 06 Shaker 500 is. Those subs aren't great by any means. I put a Speaker output to line driver on my rear speakers and added a Sub in the trunk. MUCH better.
