What short block?

I will know tomorrow if my new car needs a new motor. It has some pretty bad crankcase pressure issues, even at idle. Tommorrow i am doing a leak down test to see if the rings are good. If not, i am going to replace it with a built shortblock. Put my cam in it, and heads and supercharger. I am looking for suggestions on shortblocks. Right now i am looking at the Ford 302 shortblock that is about 1300. I dont plan on getting any wilder with this motor than it is, other than a frigging throttle body.

Well if your results show a pressure drop, don't throw the block out yet. For examply my friend recently cracked one of his cylinders because he ran high boost through his motor from a blower. Instead of getting a new block, he just got a new cylinder wall welded in place of his old one. Speciality machine shops can do work like that. If say that is the case with yours, you could spend all that money you saved from buying a new block on boring it .30 over and getting some forged internals to keep you safely running boost without any problems. Just a thought.

Take that $$ and buy a couple used short blocks for $200 and a motor lift then run the smack out of them. Change them as necc. when they blow. I have 3 sitting here to go in when the stock one blows. I bought this carwith 109K and presently has 165K+ and still running strong. It's been through 100 shot n2o for a year, an S-Trim, a KB and now Turbo. I just blew HG's and nothing else has been changed on the inside. I ran 11's last year with the S-Trim so it just really matters how fast you really want to go.
It takes an easy weekend for a novice to yank out the motor and swap. :nice:
