What should a 302 engine idle at?

I've heard 750 rpm and also 900 rpm.

stock I think is 650-750. Mine idles best at around 850-900ish when warmed up.

it depends on what cam you're running. Most street/strip cammed engines will be fine between 800-900 rpm.

i have always idled at 750

Thanks, everyone for the replies.
My engine is a 306 with RPM heads, Comp cam, Weiand Stealth, Holley 650 DP. It sounds fine idling at 750, but then when my A/C compressor (Sanden) kicks on, the idle really drops and it sounds like crap. I think I'll bump it to 900.

You can get a "AC idle compensator" that raises the idle back up to normal when you turn the AC on.....just a thought.
