What should I get as a daily driver?

I guess I'll see what you other MII owner's would prefer to have as a daily driver out of these choices. Yes, I know they are imports..but they're okay imports! lol

Choices 1980's- 1990's Toyota MR2
1991 Nissan 240 Sx

It's a big doubt that I'll even seriously consider this one..but a Honda CRX or del sol.

My fav is the Toyota MR2, I still can't decide though!

The del sol gets my vote out of the four because of the convertible mechanism. You just can't find innovation like that on older cars. As for all imports I've never liked the looks of them. My daily driver dream car would be something like a 50's or 60's station wagon chopped and lowered with all the goodies like AC, fuel injection, etc.

I will not buy rice oh Sam I am, I will not try them not even in a Jam! I would not, could not buy ANY rice, would not could not for any price!! A second Mustang is what you need, maybe not a II, but still the same breed!!!

I say get another ford thats good on gas. Getting a Ricer will rot your brain and before you know it you will be like all the other rice driving fools

i seen a cool focus the other day it was a roush version and really not all that expensive i think the guy said the package ranged from 1500 - 6k really not bad since you can get one starting around 13k or more with a plan

A Focus would be my choice. I drive one as my daily driver. Now, I 've got the butt ugly 4 door Focus, but as long as your inside you can't see how ugly it is. I like the 2 door Focus alott!!
There really pretty good little cars. LOT'S OF ROOM!!!! Mine gets 29 mpg. I have the auto. And surprising power, it's just the base engine, no VTEC, but it scoots around pretty good. When we first got it, I was all over the road with it until I got comfortable with the stearing, really tight stearing.

Definitely the CRX. I owned 1989 si for 12 years and it was great! Easy to work on, fast (for it's size) and had one of the best safety ratings for a 2 seater. It can hold a ton of stuff in the back. Toyotas are too expensive to fix. You can see from the poll results what people think of the Nissan and the Del Sol is just too small. I loved my CRX like I love my new II's. Wish I had never sold it as it go around 30 MPG around town.

That Toyota MR2 I wouldn't buy cost too much to fix.Hey I drive a 86 Corolla wth 218K on the original motor 3rd 5 speed tranny but the moter's never been touch less a carb rebuild. You'd look hard to find a domestic car that can make the same claim and still get 25-30 mpg. I'll be the first to admit It looks like crap but it's NEVER left me sit EVER. I've owned it since 96 (it had 136K then). For a daily driver find a clean bodied import and drive it till the wheel fall off. Note I say clean body, I don't know where you are but I'd still be driveing my 79 VW Rabbit Diesel (35-40 mpg) if I wasn't feeling the seam behind the kick panel moving.

FOCUS?! Thanx for the suggestion...I just don't like them lol. They are growing on me just a tiny bit, but I still don't want one.

If someone offers you a free 1983 Honda Civic wagon... I know I wouldn't say no... although mine was rare, it has racing stripes! It's a decent little hoopty though, 5spd helps make it a little more fun to drive, it looks like poo, but it keeps the miles low on the stangs and saves me alot of $$$ on gas.

That car found me...

But If I went hunting for a daily driver, it would be a 2.3 Mustang, DOY!

Of the choices given, the Nissan 240SX would be my choice. Being the only front engine, rear wheel drive car of the group makes it the most Stang-ish. It's character is really not much different than the Mustang. It's becoming the fox-bodied Mustang of Japanese cars, with more and more aftermarket parts available all the time. It's fairly light and handles extremely well. Of course I'm a bit biased, having autocrossed one all of last year. Don't get me wrong - it's a ricer. If my II were ready, I'd autocross it instead.

Or failing that, a lifted Bronco II or Ranger

Of the choices i like the MR2, i always thought they were cool little cars. Dont have a problem with rice for my commuter. They hold up better sorry guys but they do. Ive had 2 passports over the last 7 years and both of them were nearly trouble free. Both of them went over 130k miles and the last ones safety features saved my life in march in a head on collision. Just bought the wife a new Mitsubishi Endeavor Limited. We love it.

How about a V6 stang? I got 11 mpg in the Cobra II, I get 29 mpg in the V6 with the supercharger and all. Just food for thought, and you won't be looking outside of the Mustang family.

I was looking at the 240SX not long ago; ultimately bought a Saturn 3-door SC2 sport coupe. Made in U.S.A., 31/39 mpg (5-speed), brilliant engineering every place you look. Dent-proof panels, comfortable layout, easy access to fuses and maintenance, and the driver's side suicide door is freakin' AWESOME. The back seats lie down to increase cargo space, and you can load stuff through the suicide door.

And the car is good looking -- kinda looks like a Camaro that got shrunk in the dryer.

What should I get as a daily driver?
