I bought some 6 1/2 size speakers, they fit fine BUT it seems like it's too deep. The window stuff touch it. Are there certain speaker for our stangs? On my 89 I could swear they fit fine without any problems

What speakers did you use? I've had depth problems with certain speakers in foxes... usually you'll have to go with something like the $50 pioneers to have them fit right. Speakers like Rockfords are usually WAAAY too deep.

I think I have a problem here.

Go to www.crutchfield.com and enter your vehicle info. You can then search to see which speakers will fit in each location on your car.

here is a tip that worked good for me. in the doors if you will take the grill that comes with the speaker and cut the meshing out flip it beveled side toward outside of car, you can with most speakers gain the extra. you will have problems getting the bottom to clip in, go to home depot (or equivelent in your area) and get some invisible screws. it is simply a screw with a cap, run it in to pull the panel down, and you get all that you want with a factory look. i used pioneer 3-way 6.5's, nothing cheap. you can also easily modify to get a 6x9 to fit in the back and get a amazing difference in sound. hope that helps

i think that you are right, 87 and 88 seem to be slightly smaller than 89-93. strange aint it. shouldnt have been too much to take out though

Shorty, thanks for the info. i had to trim a little mostly just to recess the metal "basket" of the speaker, so that the speaker grill fit ok (not all of us are like Dave, with awesome custom everything.

i had wondered if that was just a vert phenomenon.....guess not. thanks again.
