So how does this get set up. To install it I just mark distbutor & turn it back? Of course I have to set the timming right? Might be dumb question

Yes you still need to set the timing, that kit will relocate the tfi into a spot away from the distributor.

Gotta ask, why do you want to replace the TFI chip on the distributor? The TFI chip typically either works or it doesn't. The hall effect sensor/ PIP is the same thing, either works or it doesn't.

I have this one on my Coupe (more expensive but its another option):

McCully Racing Motors- We have exactly what your over-heated TFI Module Needs!

Literally just separated the existing TFI from the distributor, found a suitable location for the remote head sink, installed the TFI chip on the heat sink, and mounted the heat sink. Then installed the dummy TFI on the distributor and wired things up. Works great!

I was gonna replace the distbutor but it’s pricey. I also need the pip sensor/pickup. I bought one from orilly but it doesn’t have that rubbery orange coating that the original one that in the d.u.i distbutor. I’m assuming that is there to protect from the heat. I just got off the phone with d.u.i & I asked how much the pip sensor would cost & I could not get a straight answer from them. Originally was gonna have them service mine and pay the labor but I wanted to know how much was the sensor & I couldn’t get an answer from them. So hot more info & they said they get those sensors from a vendor. I asked if I could get the info of the vendor so I could buy one & they said that vendor sells them in bulk. Trying to find a distbutor pickup with the rubbery coating.

MSD Pro Billet distributor is the one you want.

You know I daily my stang here in the Nevada desert, hotter then he'll on fire in the summer.
Years ago the original dist. Took a dump( wobbled). I got one from oh oh O'Reilly's and switched the tfi.
Only twice in 17 years have I had to replace the tfi, and its still mounted on the dist.
Get a tfi from rockauto $62, or a new dist. from oreilleys$115(includes tfi and cap/ rotor). They work great , take my word for it.
