I'm home on my lunch, and I turned on my TV, its making a crackling sputtering sound, in the back, and I smell something burning. WTH, We just had a storm last night, so could it have gotten fried by b*st*rd lightning bolt? Maybe it was the GM god hating on me because I paid 30 bucks for my 37" TV:D(Not Stolen!). So if anyone has any knowledge of TV's or maybe some sort of spiritual dance or chant to ward off the evil GM god, please help me.

Step 1: Un-plug TV.

Step 2: Sell it to bum for $40, make profit and suffer the losses.

Step 3: Buy new T.V.

Im not a TV expert but it sounds like its been done in. Maybe not though. Lightning is pretty harsh on electronics, even if they are plugged into a surge protector.

Was it plugged straight into an outlet or did you have it on a surge protector ? I learned the hard way not to plug LCD tv's directly into an outlet. Blew 2 sony 40 inch bravia's that way. Thank god sony covered them under warranty.
