What the hell is this??

So in in the process of chasing down a bad ground and I pulled the cargo bay carpet and I'll that out and found this in the spare tire well. You guys know what it is??

Car either has air shocks or had them at one time.

Is that something that came stock? It sure as hell doesnt have them now I know that

No. They were a popular modification to adjust ride height and firmness in the 70s and 80s (and sometimes used by drag racers).

My II had them when I bought it, they're long gone, got tired of having to air them up every few drives.

Or it was for a single air bag that was installed in the passenger side rear spring that you added pressure too to keep the car level during a hard drag launch. My car used to have one and I didn't know it until I took the springs out.
