What to do with this already impressive machine?

I recently bought a 00 GT vert for with 26k miles for 14,000 (which I think was a good deal, especially since he died). The only thing I've done is pull the silencer and install a styling bar. Whoopie

What should I do now? I'm not looking to hit the track or spend 5k in add-ons. Its black and I think it would be interesting to black it out totally, including wheels, lamp covers, etc.

I guess my order of importance is
1) Sound (both stereo and exhaust - both deeper)
2) Increase acceleration, torque
3) Anything else that impresses the ladies and makes the guys jealous.

Any thoughts?

Definitely get gears....4.10's.

Get new exhaust. If money allows, get full exhaust meaning headers, mid-pipe, and cat-back.

Since it is a vert, I would definitely get a Tonneau(sp) cover. A little pricey (about $500) but something I would get if I had a vert. I think it looks so good.

Again, if money allows it, I would just get a blower if you are after lots of HP.

EDIT:: I need sleep, I see that you would like to spend about $5,000. In that case, you can get a blower and still have a little cash left over for a few other things. If you don't get a blower, then you can have one badass Mustang with 5k in add on's. Like I said, gears, full exhaust, and then I would work on the suspension.

nah, he said he doesn't want to spend $5k in mods. :)

Now, if it's a 5spd get a short throw shifter. Pro 5.0 or Steeda Tri-Ax, your choice. I went with the Tri-Ax and I love it. Improves the feel ALOT.

Secondly, gears are a great mod. You'll get a noticable increase in acceleration. 4.10's are a great gear and they don't kill your gas mileage either. If you've got a 5 speed you'll need a Dallas Mustang Speed-Cal to correct your speedometer. If you've got an auto you'll need a chip to correct the speedo.

As for exhaust.. if you're looking for more performance, full exhaust is good. Headers, mid-pipe, and the catback. If you're mainly looking for sound and a little bit of performance, then just do the cat-back. I went with the Magnaflow cat-back... not loud when you're just cruisin' around or idling, but they scream when you get on it. They also sound different than the common Flowmaster's. There are plenty of different exhaust choices to suit your tastes, though.

There are a bunch of other bolt ons to improve performance, but they can add up and get pretty expensive. As far as styling, the possibilities are pretty much endless. You've got plenty of different rims to choose from, there are alot of body kits available, all sorts of things. You've just got to look around.

Good luck with your 'Stang. :nice:

Oh yea, just a warning... once you start modding performance wise, you'll never stop. I started out thinking the GT was perfect stock, but then I got exhaust... then the shifter... then the gears... now i'm about to get pulleys, timing adjuster, and a steeda race wing... and I've got more planned after that! it never stops!

By the way, I feel a bit lucky being in Dallas. Dallas Mustang is right down the road. Another company, ABC Exclusive is also just 20 minutes away. Got the styling bar there and they gave me a tour of the whole place. They do hoods body kits. Was able to get the bar $100 cheaper than anywhere else. Not too bad of an install either, just took longer than they said.

OK if i were you. You got a sleek black stallion eh? Get the Black spoked Bullit rims with chrome Lip. Deep dish 18x9 18x10 or 17x9 17x10.5. $900-1300. The gts front and rear blackouts u can get em on ebay for about 30-40 bucks each set. then tint your windows out black $200. Then full exhaust would be nice headers, high flow h or x pipe then side exhuast, sweeet headers-$300-600, h,x pipe 300-500, side exit exhaust $400-800! then a decent cold air intake. With those mods u can get into high 13's and still be very street mannered and all the peoples jaws will drop when u roll by. Itll sound and look faster then it is. :]
