i have a 66 mustang with a 289/4spd that i bought a few months ago with the intention of making it into a pretty mean street car and modifying the motor in the car but i think rather than rushing something and risking messing up the motor in the car i've decided to do some body and resto work first while keeping it running. when i got the car the previous owner gave me the original shortblock from the car so im going to take my time building that up. it has to be machined because of some surface rust so i'm planning on getting it bored .30 over but other than that i have no idea what to do for a set-up. i would like the car to be putting out around 400hp (but i wouldn't mind more) when finished and i'll be working on it over a good length of time so im not too concerned with the money involved since there is no deadline i just dont want to get too crazy. i'd also prefer to keep this block and not have to worry about getting a 302 or anything to start with. any ideas for a combo that would put me where i want to be or do i just have pipe dreams
