I have a 1996 Mustang Cobra with Kenne Bell, Headers, exhaust, ect.

I am looking to buy a tuning software that can actually be tuned.
Not just plug in what kind of headers i have, what kind of intake.

I am looking for one that I am in control.

Does anyone have any sugestions?

Thanks in advance.

look into

sniper stuff, they are cheaper than sct and do the same thing imo.....and they are easier to work with.

if you know what you are doing then go with sniper...awesome program and very easy to use and much better than the pro racer package...but if your buying it for someone else to use go sct... harldy anyone tunes with sniper so buy sct unless your doing it yourself

Unless you understand something about automotive engine control, I suggest you let the experts do the tuning. You should probably start by asking the local performance shops which software they would prefer to use.

There is no software which you can put your modifications in and it gives you a tune. That's because the parts interact differently, to make an entire system and you have to consider the system as a whole.

I have a TwEECer for my car and like it quite a bit. With any of these tuning packages, there is a big learning curve for each of the variables available, and there are literally hundreds. It takes a lot of practice to make a tune that runs factory smooth in all conditions and makes safe power. The timing ideally should be set on a dyno, especially on a blown car!

With Sniper you don't want the Special Forces. You want Commando. It is the one that has all the variables you can change.

You might be able to get your tune close without a dyno, but not exact. You will need AFR for sure so that means wideband also. If you want max power, you will need to take it to a dyno, whether you tune it yourself or have someone do it. You can only dial in spark with a constant such as timed track or dyno. as the max power area on most cars is not "go til detonation and back off a couple". You will need a constant to tell you at what spark settings your car is putting down the most power as well as other parameters.
