About 6 months ago I had a nice little engine fire when a shop rag I had temporarily separating two things up near my firewall fell down onto my headers, caught fire in a parking lot, and before I was able to put it out ate up every non metal item on the pass. side of my engine bay not to mention my cowl hood.

Among other things I need a new engine portion of my wiring harness now, and was prepared to go looking through some junkyards with my wire snippers when I was told that there are many different types of harnesses that I could have. How can I find out which type I need???

The car is a 1990 5-speed coupe, that was once a 4 banger automatic, so I can't rely on the VIN to tell me. Thanks for any help!

Not much help, but here's what I have.

Copied From bbunt302

Just for reference, here's a list of all the compatible years:

89 harness should work for 86-89 as long as you're using mass air.
90 harness will only work in a 90. (B/c of air bags and dual dash connectors)
91 through early 92 harnesses should be compatible (single dash connector, fuel pump relay under driver's seat)
Late 92 through 93 harnesses should be compatible (single dash connector, fuel pump relay under the hood)

Computers from 89-92 are all the same. Look for the A9L sticker on the back cover for a 5 speed that matches your requirements. Example: E9ZF 12A650 AA" with the A9L code.

I only need the engine portion of the harness ( I was planning on snipping and soldering ), so I would assume I should only worry about mass airflow compat. and not the dash connections? I do have an airbag (new wheel unit) but the impact sensors already had been set off so it useless anyways. thanks for the help
