My car is running really rough, (smoking from exhaust, i think its running really rich?) its a explorer motor with E cam. its a mass air system. ive changed complete wire harnesses, sensors, fuel rail, injectors, computers checked for vacuum leaks and still had no effect on the way it ran. the last thing i can think of is if i didnt have my gears properly lined when i put the motor together. maybe 180 off?? would that cause the car to burn an excess of fuel or burn it at the wrong time and make it smoke?. or would i be wasting my time taking that back apart?

If your cam is off 180 degrees than your car would barely run or not run at all. When you put the motor together didn't you line up the dots on the crank and cam gears (12 O'clock and 6 O'clock)?

Have you tried using the computer for a cylinder balance test? I didn't look to see what year your car is, but that would be the easiest way to tell if it's something serious.
