What would yall do to me if i bought this????

Having owned a few FWD cars in the past, I've vowed never to do so again. Reliability factors aside, when you do inevitably have to service one, a FWD car SUCKS ARSE compared to a RWD model ... or at least a logitudinally (sp?) mounted motor (such as a Dodge Intrepid). That, and they never handle quite right compared to a RWD sports car, as you can't blip the throttle to control the rear end in a turn, and they almost always tend to understeer whereas a 'Stang is far easier to oversteer (and thereby easier to correct, versus plowing straight into a tree or wall).

If you want something cheap and fun to drive, go hunt for a Miata. They've got a pretty good reliability rep going for the 94+ models, they're RWD, they get good mileage, and they're pretty zippy little turds in stock trim ... and even better with a supercharger plopped on there. (They're downright INSANE if you go with a Monster Miata conversion and drop in a 302 ... but you'll be giving up the whole nifty 50/50 weight distribution feature.) And hey, Mazda's all buddy-buddy with Ford, so there won't be as much brand loyalty guilt to deal with, either...

Personally Id look into a newer Fbody. Late LT1 car or early LS1 with a 6-speed. Both will get decent highway mileage and can run the track times with the mpg.

It has the early 6-Bolt engine which is stronger and less prone to crankwalk than the 7-Bolt that came with that car.

The transmissions aren't the best things in the world and but it all depends on how you treat it. They have a bad reputation for breakage due to 5500RPM clutch drops in the AWD models. The transmission in the FWD cars hold up fine since the tires will spin before you hit the strength limit.

Only other issues with the 2G body style is the balljoint and transfer case recall, so if you pick it up make sure they've been done. The transfer case recall involved the yoke leaking fluid and is a lifetime recall through the NHTSA. If it ever leaks, they'll fix it.

They've replaced the stock T25 with the stock turbo from the 1G cars, a common mod since the 14B has more potential. They've also replaced the factory bypass valve with a BOV so unless they've converted it to a blow through setup then it's running rich between shifts.

To each his own. If you like it, buy it. Just make sure you get a really big sheetmetal wing and a fart pipe. Oh yeah, 8" diameter tach on the a-pillar.

btw- you'll regret getting rid of the stang if it's not immediately replaced with another stang.

LOL do they even make a 8" tach. I seen some A-pillar fake gauges in Canadian tire they were stick on pods with a thermometer I laughed when some kid bought one for his Accura
