What would you do?

Alright, I picked up a project car with a TON of peice in boxes and boxes. I have the engine on the stand and I began to tear it appart and have had nothing but problems. First, the front cam bearing has a good couple nicks:

Secondly, my plan was to replace the vavle seals before I put it back together and I got the spring off but then realized that all the seals have permanently attached themselves to the guides. I had to use a razor blade to get it off and I couldn't even get it off. Not only that, but the valves didn't fall out, they got stuck just before it entered the guide (either bent or mushroomed at the top). Its not worth putting all that money into a stock gt40 head so I think these are junk.

So, needless to say I could go these routes:

1. Pick up a 5.0 out of an explorer along with as many other parts as I can to try to make this a complete swap. (I'm leaning twards this right now)

2. Rebuild gt40 heads and change out cam bearings and try to go from there.

3. try to find a complete donor car for a 94 - 95 and swap everything over. (wouldn't be bad, however - I could spend a good amount of time trying to find one)

4. Any other suggestions?

My idea is to try to get this thing running and I'm not looking for a ton of aftermarket ideas right now because I just want to get it running and the only requirements would be for it to run decent and not smoke (doesn't have to be fast yet). If you were in my position, what would you do? I'm trying to learn from some of the other mistakes and get others opinions before I decide to drop a grand into this motor and realize I could have gotten a junk-yard 5.0 Gt40p set up for 500 or so.

If one of those cam bearings is damaged, I'd be inclined to replace all of them. And getting a machine shop to do that isn't cheap. As for the heads, I wouldn't even bother repairing them for what they are worth. I vote on the Explorer jy motor idea, seems like the most economical way to go about it.

That was my thoughts as well.

Its not worth reparing the GT40 heads considering what they are worth and the power that I'll get out of them. Now what about wiring and all accessories that come with the Explorer engine? I have most of the stuff from the peices laying around my garage, however, it would be nice to try to put all explorer stuff and do a direct swap of all that stuff. Does someone know of a write up in swaping an explorer engine?

My question is, what parts from the 94-95 will absoluelty need to be reused? Can I use the wiring, assesories from the explorer as well?
