i am building a new 5.0 for my 86 GT. I want this new motor completely ready to drop in when i pull my original motor so I dont have to take anything off the original motor when i put it up for storage. What yeat timing covers interchange with the 86 5.0? I would imagine any EFI 5.0 would be the same, but I thought I'd ask first, as these have their own heads and maybe more. Balancers all the same for EFI 5.0's too? Can I take all that stuff off say, a crown vic in the junkyard? Thanks

The timing covers are all the same except for the fuel pump boss. Some have them open and some have them closed. The ones that are closed are from a fuel injected car that had the pump in the tank. You can get either, but if you happen to end up with one that has the open boss you will have to get a fuel pump block off plate.

The balancers might be the same, just make sure that it is a 50oz if your flywheel/flexplate is a 50oz. Check to make sure which one you have because the early 302's had a 28oz like the 351W. The nest thing you can do is check the block for the year and ask the dealer to look up the balancer for that year motor. Then you can go anywhere and get the right balancer and flywhee/flexplate.
