hello everyone... i had another question that got missed in another thread (kinda hidden) So i'll bring it out by itself.

my header gaskets are leaking for my Tri-Y's. I noticed this "popping" sound yesterday and it was smoking a little around the back of the header.

I just wanted to know what are good gaskets ad silicone to use so this won't happen again. Headers have been on for about 10,000 miles roughly. The sound was small after about 5000 but now its getting louder. Thanks

I use Earl's Pressure Master seals for both the header and collector. They work excellently and the centers are replaceable.

Silicone won't generally survive on a header gasket - even the copper stuff. Old hot-rodders trick that works surprisingly well: Soak your header gaskets in water overnight. Use Mr. Gasket or similar decent-quality gaskets. Install them wet, torque the flange bolts and start the engine. Get this done quickly so that the gasket is still very wet when you tighten the bolts. Start the engine and let the heat try out the gasket. Retighten the header bolts.

Works even on header flanges that are pretty difficult to seal. Hope that helps.

Use Stage 8 locking header bolts and it doesn't matter as much because they will never loosen and allow the gasket to burn.

I use Fel-Pro 1415s.
Never had a blown header gasket with them!
Many problems with other brands however.

I use NAPA vector seal. I have never had a header leak yet, they look like they are made of graphite and the melt to the surfaces. Seals perfect
