What's Cracking, how can I repair?

I was tinkering around on the stang the other day and found this... not exactly sure what it is thats cracking, but is it severe? ... can it be fixed?

Its by the rear control arm, when i purchased the car the guy said it came with the Torque Box reinforcement plates... Are the torque boxes cracking or is this another problem?

pretty crappy pics....but if there cracked u need to have them welded before it gets worse

That's a torque box, I dont know what your previous owner said about the reinforcement plates. Either they werent installed right or its not on there at all.

I would have the "Battle Box" style reinforcements welded in on that car if you dont have any and weld that crack of course. I got an upper and lower set of powdercoated box reinforcements for $60 on eBay.

Is the installation of the torque boxes difficult at all? Let me know if there is anything special that i need to know. Thanks a ton for everyones help!
