ok, my new stang needs brakes tires and an alignment. . doin that this week, my question is. . what is the first upgrade i should be thinking. leaning twards the dynomax catback and high flow cats. sound off, im a newbie (well i had an 86 gt convertable years ago and sold it for $500 bucks)
but you guys know more about GT's in yer little finger than me. im on a budget, so the mods come cheap, slow, or both!

Rear end gears. It changes the length your car is in each gear. Changes those WIDE gears our cars came with to nice short crisp ones. A gearset is around 200 and installation is around 400.

you'll get a lot of debate over which 'rear end gears' to get, whether it be 3.73 3.90 or 4.10 which are the main sizes...

post up ur information.. year, model, body, manual/auto, maybe even a pic

some of the most common first mods
gears (rear end gears- differential)
pullies (under drive pullies)
catback (exhaust- behind midpipe)
midpipe
maybe a new shifter (pro5.0 or triax)

do some searching for newbie mods or something like that... u should come up with some good stuff

here ya go

my room mate had a 2000 cobra that he put 4.11's in, light to light it was a monster, but when he hit the highway and got it up to 80 it sounded like the engine was gonna blow. . i wanna keep (some) mpg. . i have a 95 gt 5.0
with "porno" red interior. . hehe, like that by the way.

186k and bone stock. want to make it faster than it is now, but i am not lookin to put it on the track, this is my every day car, guess i just want to free up some horsepower entil i can get the rebuild kit.

If your looking for cheap how’s this advancing your timing to 14* that’s free except at the pumps you must use 93 octane (or the highest grade available). Like mentioned already gears are one of the best mods but the install is not cheap around $400 the gears (3.73 5speed/4.10 auto) can be had for about $140 shipped from www.gefracing.com if you don't have to worry about emissions than an off road h pipe (Mac brand) will free up some ponies that can be had for about $130 shipped I got mine from www.texasmustang.com

2000 huh, would have to be a cobra R then, must have one lucky and rich roommate.

get gears first, they will have the biggest bang for you buck. i would go with 3.73s. not bad for cruising down the highway. i take it your in GA, i don't know about their emission laws but if you don't have to pass the sniffer, get an off-road H/X pipe(without cats). dynomax mufflers are good, catback is really up to you. its more about the sound you want than the power it makes, for catbacks, its all about the same. You can make a cold-air kit for pretty cheap also. i would look around stangnet trader, and ebay and such to find used cheap stuff. you can get away with steals if your patient.

MAC off road h pipe!!!! 109.00 +20 .00 for shipping

best 100.00 i've spent.

yeah... there are a ton of freebie mods too l

if i were to do anything else performance to mine i think i would either get subframes or 3:73 gears for the rear

Hey check your local wrecking yard for mustang stuff, i got my buddy a MAC pro dump muffler exhaust for 40.00

What he was getting at is there isnt a 2000 cobra besides the 5.4 liter cobra R. (you'll know it cause its bright red/orange color with a huge wing on the trunk) So more than likely your boy had a 99 or an 01'. He's just bustin your balls though.
