Speaking as someone that bought one last year and is replacing it this year, I'd recommend to stay away. The build quality and the afore mentioned issues make it a lousy buy, unless you can find one of the original ones. If I knew then what I know now, I would have held out for a GT-40 or just gone with an Edlebrock to begin with.
Go with the Edelbrock Billy.Just the regular Performer will be good. I went 105 mph with just the intake and your MAF and pulleys, x-pipe and gears. This was with stock injectors and stock headers.
It's only 1 bolt on the inside of the intake that is somewhat hard to get to, it's not really that bad though. You have the side plate off of the upper and I dropped the bolt down into the hole with a pair of needle nose pliers and tightened it up with a regular box wrench. Not too hard if you ask me. Most people don't even put it in.Isn't there on bolt on the Edelbrock that is a total btch to get to?
I know the GT-40 is around 700, off the top of my head I'm thinking the Edelbrock is 500? I gotta check the price.
The GT-40 is a great looking intake, plus it is Ford with exceptional power making on the dyno. It makes torque down low and at the higher RPM's. The Edelbrock I can't remember. Any comments?
I would do a search on the other intakes plenty of good reading and found alot of good info. I aslo did a search on the new cobra intake and read about the problems and decided against the pruchase, in the end I did some research on the Tom Moss website and have decided to go this route and it looks like it will come out much cheaper and the ported stock lower he does will flow has much as the cobra, I aslo plan a 95 cobra maf, ford racing 65mm TB and EGR spacer and port matching the spacer to the upper intake. I only have mild mods, stock cam and heads right now but this seems like a solid option for a stock or mild moded motor.

400 beans is a STEAL!!Sending it to T-Moss will is a nice touch. I wish that new BBK was a bit more stable because I love the looks of it. The only reason I wanted a Cobra was because of the price. Now with new light shed on the subject I most likely won't be getting one.
