what's next for the stang guys...maybe 500 dollars budget at most

A short shifter would be my choice.

And maybe some suspension parts.

Shifter, alum. driveshaft, and T- body.
That should be around $500.00 and you can put all of these on yourself easily.

if I really wanted aluminum heads I have 4500 dollars left of available credit on the charge card...

Unless your going to adress the suspension (sub frames, lowering springs, shocks, struts) I would just hold onto it until you can afford some heads. But the suspension would be a good investment. Even without subframes my car handles much better after new shocks and springs.
