Whats some good Shocks for my car?? Old ones fried!

Well I noticed when driving over bumps my rear-end would skip to the side alittle. I wondered what it could be. I looked under the car and the right shock in rear is oil covered and when pushing on rear-end it bounces lol.

Whats a good shock for rear? Also when doing rear should I also get front shocks? Any input very useful! Thanks all!

It's a good idea to replace them all around. As for what to replace them with, it depends on what you're after. Cheapest way is to replace them with the same item. If you want some performance/style out this consider a lowering kit. I purchased mine on eBay for ~$550.

the tokico shocks and struts made for the mach 1/ bullit mustangs are cheap and a vast improvement over stock. check out stang store.

If you're just a daily driver and can afford them, Bilstein are some of the best struts/shocks out there. They are not rough at all unless you have lowered your car but that's a symtom of the springs and not the shocks.

If you race at the track, you might want an adjustable shock.

if your car is lowered. Bilstein 87-93 shocks. cheaper too.

you can replace the rear shocks without doing the front.. If you want something kinda soft, i'd get an adjustable shock in the rear so you can set it to the stiffness you want. I personally would buy bilsteins (82 bucks a shock), but they are fairly stiff, but also last forever. If you really want to get rid of the side to side action in the rear and also the wheel hop, look into some upper and lower control arms

HPM megabyte jr, Steeda aluminum hardcores, maximumotorsports.

some people use cheapo X2c and had good luck with them. Stay away from UPR.

at this point i'm going with steeda alum lca's from www.mustangtuning.com and you can pick up FRPP uca's for about 70 bucks shipped.. can't remember where.

Thanks for input all! Ill look into the Bils Adjustable!

Now might be a stupid question but control arms will make the car stay straight? Would this stop the side to side(fun) action when taking off and shifting or Just stop the sway when hitting bumps and stuff?

Also should I invest in sub-frames? Which find for a coupe? I know alot of people get them and if there needed ill do it!

For 89 bucks you can have subframes from a top name in suspension for stangs at www.griggsracing.com . I have them and they are great. Definately invest in some. Be sure no matter what you get that they are weld on subframes and not bolt-on. Subrames=goodbye to 75% of all squeaks

Upper/Lower control arms help the rear axle stay planted when you launch, and keep the axle from moving side to side on hard turns, if you buy the right combo.

i have the mach 1 struts and shocks also and am very happy with them. btw - i also have steeda sport springs and steeda lca's.
