Anyone here running Bilstein shocks? I recently picked up a set off Amazon for a good price and installed the rears with H&R Super Sport springs on my 91. The ride is extremely rough, and when I push down on the rear, there’s no rebound at all—it just compresses and stays there. Did I end up with defective shocks or the wrong ones? The part number is 24-021487, which seems to match for an '87-'93.

I have them on both my Mustangs. Ride is phenomonal and I love it.

Crawl under the rear of the car and unbolt both shocks from the axle and pull them away. Bounce the rear. Is it the same?

That should give you your answer if the bind is in the axle, or the shocks are bad.

Can you compress them by hand??

The shocks are there to control the springs, If you push down and it doesn't return up it sounds more like binding than a problem with the shocks. Generally when shocks are bad they just move with the springs instead of damping them (what they are designed to do), so if your car stays in compression it is very likely something else is keeping it that way. What is your rear control arm setup?

Thanks! I’ll check for any binding. Still running the stock control arms

Anyone ever run a car with no shocks?? I had to drive my stepside in the pic for a few days when I had a shock go bad and had to wait while the new one came in.... They were special " shorty" shocks for 4" drop in the rear.... Thing bounced around like a pogo stick... The difference from shocks to no shocks was quite " shocking"....
