What's that noise?!?!?

Only engine mod is a MAC CAI fenderwell. Since installing it, I've heard only the hissing noise of air under throttle (which I read is normal). This morning there was a very loud "crackling" as RPMs rose. The best I can describe it is a fuzz/snow channel on TV. The noise seemed to be coming from the fender/intake area. I didn't drive more than a block before turning around and swapping the Cobra out for our other car.

Question is - has anyone had a similar problem with the intake? Perhaps the filter came loose? I plan on disassembling it after work and having a look - I just hope it's a simple fix and the noise wasn't an indication of a larger problem.

Sometimes the rush of air entering the intake tract will increase in noise when adding a CAI. It would still be a good idea to chedk it out and make sure that all of the hardware is still holding everything together in place...

I've had the intake on for about 5K miles and it was a decidedly louder and harsher sound this morning. I was concerned enough to pull a U-turn and put it right back in the garage. Damn, I hate being at work and stewing over this all day.............
