they are expensive, you can't deny it, but i firmly believe that they are top quality and are a proven mod.

i can't remember the thread but recently someone posted up a thread and they had them for a great price. PartShopper has them too for a pretty decent price.

Another vote ofr the Bassani Mid-lengths. But that depends on if you have to keep all four cats. If you have to stick with the factory H then I guess shorties are your only real option.

california emissions laws prohibit the use of LT headers. I can't remember the reason, but it may have something to do with altering the amount of catalytic converters, which is illegal here. Trust me, if it was legal, JBA would be making LT's for us and I'd have a set on my car.


If you want mid-lengths, JBA has some coming out soon (1-2 months)...

First off, I am not bashing Mac and they are, in fact, what I will be installing this spring to compliment my new cams. But...there have been some posts that dealt with issues on the Macs. Most of them have been with '99-'01 Cobras that had Macs installed and then ended up with blow-by, scored cylinders, etc. Most of the people have pointed fingers at the "slag" in the tubes that was left over from welding when they were manufactured being put back in the engine from the EGR. There have been guys on Modular Depot and other boards that have installed the Mac LTs and temporarliy blocked their EGR valve so that all the slag that might come loose would be blown out before reconnecting it. Otherwise, I think the Macs are the best bang for the buck in LTs.

do the MAC LT headers fit on the auto's? this is the frst i have heard that long tubes dont fit on autos...

you cant run LT's in cali because that means you have to change out the stock h-pipe, which is the only legal one to run in CA. meaning that any h or x pipe even with cats is illegal in cali, well on 96+ cars anyway

Shorty's are a waste of money first of all. You wont make much more power at all if any over stock manifolds. But with that out of the way I would go with the NEW BBK shorty its called like a stepped tuner or somehting. It looks awesome. It sounds like these midpipes you other guys are talking about. It looks like a really trick piece. I got the FMS they're junk.

I got my JBA Shorty Headers at Sacramento Mustang for $479.00.

These were only the Stainless Steel ones though but I am very happy with them. Coupled with my Magnapack catback, the sound is very racy. I don't have dyno sheets but there is a noticeable difference in acceleration and gas pedal response. Someone also pointed out that JBA is coming out with mid-lenth headers.
