The bolts which fasten the bellhousing to the main case are inside the bellhousing on a C-4 and outside the bellhousing on an FMX.On the FMX the bolt heads point towards the rear of the transmission and thread into the bellhousing through ears on the main case so they are visible.
Use the pics fvike posted to count the bolts. If you can get a shoulder under a car you reach over and count the bolts on the pan by feeling them and know what kind of tranny it is without ever seeing it.
