There's this plug on the shifter base and I don't know what it's for...it's probably something simple but I just don't know. Here's a picture:
VIN can't tell me what it came with? 5 spd or auto?
Well I had worried that maybe this car wasn't even a real 5.0, but I checked my vin at https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/VIN_tools/default.asp and it turns out it's a 5.0, but it doesnt say anything about the transmission.
It's kind of disappointing...I mean it shouldn't really matter since it's a 5 speed now but still...![]()
Yep on the door jamb my code is TRRBB so it's definitely an automatic born... Oh well. I would have never known. And I still can't tell the difference. Still a t5 right?
No worries, though, my 5.0 is a converted AOD car too. As long it was done well, it should be perfectly fine. One benefit to an AOD convert car is that the AOD cars generally take less abuse than the T5 equipped cars (at least in stock form) to the rest of the drivetrain since the AOD absorbs a good amount more power than (parasitic drivetrain loss) the T5.
Based on the VIN you sent me, this is what I got from my repo program.
Body Style: 2dr Hatchback LX Sport 5.0L Automatic

If it shifts well, the clutch feels good and it grabs nicely, more than likely it was installed correctly. If I were you I wouldn't worry about it and enjoy rowing through the gears.
