Looks like someone tried to seal it. I believe it is a heater core bypass? Is that the water pump?

Looks like the heater core supply on the manifold. There's some talk of it leaking on the 5.4 in F150s. For example:

http://www.f150online.com/forums/v8-engines/423144-97-5-4l-coolant-leak-rear-intake-fitting.html

Also, the leaked stuff looks very rust-coloured. Once repaired you're going to want to flush that cooling system...

Looking at the few mustang forums I get on, seems there's been quite a few issues with that specific area lately. The tube that the hose is connected to is more than likely cracked. It's molded to the intake manifold and the intake manifold needs to be replaced. I read one post where the guy cut the tube off evenly, tapped the plastic, and installed a barbed fitting to connect the hose to, but a proper fix is to replace it.

I have a pi intake I'm looking to sell if you're interested.

Not sure if that fitting itself is replaceable. Perhaps a replacement manifold is in the cards. Does it look like this:

If it is your intake, DO NOT use a Doorman one!!! While Doorman makes good quality parts, the intake has been shown to cost hp.
