Ok so my car was running fine one week ago and siince then the alternator started going out, two shops tested it and said that it was done. So now I get a new alternator, put everything in and now I have a couple new noises. It sounds like I have some sort of fan on and also like the belt is making a clicking sound. I'm guessing it could be the clutch in my a/c compressor that is going out? It sure sounds like it is in that area. This sound goes on and off and I can only really hear it sometimes at idle. My a/c still works but it makes a different sound when on and off, and it seems like it maybe should be a little cooler. Now today I drove it home from work, a/c was on light and i stopped at a friends house for 5 mins and shut the car off. Go back to start it up and it starts then dies, it did this 5 or 6 times and after starting it I kept the rpms up so it wouldnt die, then drove it home. It was also putting some smoke out the exhaust everytime i would try and start it again, sorry I didnt notice the color but guessing it was maybe just burning extra gas.

Sorry this is so long but I'm guessing I should just get a new a/c compressor instead of just getting the clutch? Seems like I heard its much easier to just replace the whole thing and then I dont have to worry about it. Where should I get one
Thanks
Tommy

took the belt of and it feels like the whole a/c pully is loose. I dont know if this means its the bearings or the clutch but I think I'm going to buy a remanufactured compressor with clutch from schucks for $170. Do I really need a new receiver drier/accumulator and expansion valve/orifice tube???????
