Is there anything special about aligning a car with modded C/C plates? Will the local Firestone shop know what to do or is this best left to a specialty shop?

They should know how to do it anywhere. The only problem you will have with a regular alignment place would be if you wanted to give them custom alignment specs. They will only align your car at factory specs.

Didn't know there was such a thing. In what situations would you want to have different specs? I figured all four tires pointing in the same direction was all there was.

I wanted a little more negative camber, & a little more positive caster for better handling. I run maximum motorsports cc plates, so I called & asked them for there recomended alignment specs. It was just a little more agressive than factory, but not enough to wear out the tires real bad. it gave me a little better steering response. i like my car to handle. Factory specs are ok though.

there is a wide range in specs. we dont charge any extra for alinging to custom specs.

and NO not everyone knows how to use a camber plate. i would ask a local speed shop who they use for their alignments. you may even be able to get a discount going thru a performance shop. we normally charge $69.99 for cars and we charge $50.00 for all the cars we do for Fastlane and other local shops

Well then I guess the local Stang shops in my town must be idiots, because they didnt have any info on a good alignment shop. Yeah I didnt beleive it either. Theres rides must handle like crap cuz they all seem to run Eibach sportlines....You probably are right about not everyone knowing how to use caster camber plates because both times I got my cars aligned @ Sears they had my sh-t way off. Couldnt even get it to the factory specs. Thats why i had my freind who is a tech @ the local chrysler dealership do my alignment this time. He did it right FINALLY!!!

Another problem you could have is if you are lowered and the car cannot be driven onto the alignment rack because it is too low.

Damn, were you there when the Tire Kingdom dudes were molesting my Stang onto the alignment rack (using every piece of wood they could find)? I wanted to walk away, but I couldn't help but stare...it was frustrating...but they did get it on and (luckily) off there.

That is the only reason I've heard when getting my car aligned. Otherwise the computer does all the work unless you ask for specific specs.

I had my alignment done at a reputable shop, and when I got home and check on the plates, iI noticed they used a hammer to make the adjustments to the plate position. This ended up putting dings in my new CC plates.

Holy crap...I'd be hysterical. I'd demand they do something about it. I wouldn't want dented CC plates under my hood!!

Thanks for that info, when I put mine on and get it aligned, I'll be sure to watch very closely!

some plates dont slide very easily and a hemmer is necessary sometimes. you should use a rubber hammer so it wont leave marks but some shops just dont care.

I used to get my alignment at a speciality shop in Vegas cause no one else was setup for a lowered car. $80!!!!

Here in Colorado Springs I bought my Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires and they (Goodyear) couldn't get my car on the rack. So I took it to Brakes Plus where the manager is a Mustang freak. They had no problem and do a great print out of what it was and what they did. $35!!!

I'm very low. And my MM C/C plate take care of that. NO HAMMER NEEDED!!!!

hahaha, a lowered car for $80!!! you should consider yourself lucky!! we charge $100 and up for lowered cars!

you get what you pay for and a $35 alignment wont be too much. we hand out discount coupons for a half price alignment and guess what you get..........half an alignment! dont cheap out when it comes to getting your alignment done right. if you really want a good alignment just hand the tech a $10 or $20 and tell them to take good care of your car. that will be the best investment you will make. i will do a MUCH better alignment for a little tip. not saying i dont do a good job all the time but i will go the extra mile for those "special" customers!
