wheel housing

I was wondering if anyone has replaced the outer wheel housings on a 65-66 mustang. I have the new wheel housing but i cant seem to get it to fit up into the housing . I was wondering if there was a special way they need to be put in.

You may need to trim some of the upper lip as it is usually very big/tall. THese are repo pieces I would assume so sometimes fitmit is not that good.
