When to disconnect battery???

Hey all - just picked up an Accufab 75mm TB,C&L Plenum and MRT CAI.
Before I install these items I need to know when is the right time to disconnect the battery?
Should I do it before or after installation?

I installed all of that a few months ago on my former 2K GT w/ the battery connected the whole time. I only disconnected it later to do a system reset as I forgot to connect a vaccuum hose that caused the SES light to come on.
