Check out Summit Racing or Jegs. They have excellent prices and can usually get it to your door within 2 days for like $9.

Yep, Summitracing should have them. They usually can get it out the same day you place the order.

I'm a Bell fan myself...they make some of the best helmets out there.

"M" rated helmets are for motorcycling. "SA" are for autosports ("Special Applications" I think it stands for).

Differences between M and SA ratings are mainly that M rated helmets are designed for multiple impacts (like when hitting the pavement as you roll after being thrown from a bike), whereas SA helmets are designed for one big impact (you hitting the interior when you hit the wall). Also, SA rated helmets have a greater fire resistance factor, as you may be trapped inside a burning vehicle; with a motorcycle, if there is a fire, you're likely not going to be around it (see above).

I'd say shell out the cash for the latest SA rated helmet you can find...I think it's SA2005 now. It'll be good for years, and in the terrible event you need it, you don't want to wish you had tried to save a few bucks.

I use a G-Force Pro Graphix M2005 helmet in my dirt rfce car. All things considered though, I have a 5 point harness, full cage and racing seat. The chances of me being ejected or hitting something with my head is less than you in your street car. http://www.soloracer.com/gforcehelmets.html

I heard the opposite of what john said about the difference in the 2 but this website shows that the SA helmet has to have a rollbar impact test as the M doesn't. Additionally, SA helmets have a smaller eyeport than M rated helmets. http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Track/helmet.htm

As far as your track, you may need to call them and ask about the ratings. I would assume they want SA rated helmets but just a Snell 95 rating means any M or SA 95 or better helmet. The difference between the M and SA helmets are about $80. I bought my M rated helmet for $179 where as you can get the SA rated for about $259.

Yeah, I could well have it backward. In any event, I'll broaden my comment just to say that M and SA helmets are designed for different purposes...definitely go with an SA one if you're doing autosports.

I would definitely suggest finding someone that has one and trying it on. I'm fortunate and tried on an x-large and a medium and then used my military hat size to buy the medium. Gotta get the one that fits otherwise it's junk. I would also recommend the SA for what you need to do.
