Where to buy Neutral Safety Switch

If you dont mind having the switch missing you can short it so you can start the car. My 82 Capri doesnt have one from the factory just keep in mind the car will roll if left in gear when starting.

The Neutral Safety Switch has nothing to do with the starter. It is to prevent the computer from going into diagnosic mode when the car is driven with the test jumper to dump codes is installed.

The computer wants to make sure the A/C is off due to the added load on the engine for the engine running tests. It also
checks to see that the transmission is in Neutral or the clutch depressed (T5, T56, Tremec 3550 & TKO)). This prevents
the diagnostics from being run when the car is driven. Key On Engine Running test mode takes the throttle control away
from the driver for several tests. This could prove hazardous if the computer was jumpered into test mode and then driven.

The NSS code 67 can be bypassed for testing. You will need to temporarily ground computer pin 30 to the chassis.
Computer pin 30 uses a Lt blue/yellow wire. Remove the passenger side kick panel and then remove the plastic cover from
the computer wiring connector. Use a safety pin to probe the connector from the rear. Jumper the safety pin to the
ground near the computer.

hmmm maybe there is a confusion on what the NSS is. I thought it was on the clutch pedal and when it was depressed you can start the car. My 82 Capri doesnt have one so it starts whether the clutch is depressed or not. My 93 will not crank at without the clutch being depressed.

That's the Clutch Safety Switch or Clutch Pedal Position Switch.

This switch goes on the top cover of the T-5. I had a older t-5 that didn't have this and the car would start up fine. I can't find this switch and the pin and I don't know if I can't run the transmission with the hole unplug.

Some guys have had luck sourcing them from a transmission shop or the junkyard. I have the pigtail to one that I got from a yard, but I was never able to remove the switch with the transmission still installed. I've yet to see a part number posted for one.

got a brand new one in the package from ford. I bought it 10 years ago and just never used it LOL. ( no its not for sale as it has an intended purpose now)
