where to run wiring for fan??

You can source the load-side power from the battery - you bet. That was my original thought and how I'd do it (so the relay is closer to the battery and fan).



Steve, thanks for the info. I had made a heat sink for mine too but didnt use it for packaging concerns. My controller is in the line of airflow though - I've been meaning to take an IR temp reading and see how the unit's doing. Thanks for swapping ideas/thoughts back and forth. :nice:
 
I have a lot of room infront (forward in car) of the unit to mount a 1/4" thick peice of painted steel or aluminum. That should give my DCC a place to send all of it's stored energy.

Tying it into the body will be the tricky part... I might run a metal band to the driver fender or the reinforcment that the hood bumper is mounted to. I am still thinking of a solution for this part

Steve, I can totally see why you want to heat sink that thing - it's gotta get a little toasty.
