Ok, bone stock 87 gt I've had for 11 years and have done no mods. I would like to at least keep up w/ a Camero past 50mph, so where's a good place to start?

youre gonna get like a million different opinions on this. but here's my 2cents

if it's a stick, put shortie headers, 3:73 gears, sub frame cons, quik shifter, underdrive pullies.

auto: stall converter, headers, 4:10's, sub frames, shift kit.

but none of this will keep up with a newer camaro.

well gears and subframes are basically a given...they should be the first mod for your car...and if its an auto you definatly want a higher stall...maybe 2800 or 3000 and possibly a transcooler

I'd stick with unequals if you decide to go with headers now.

1. 3.73 gears
2. Short throw shifter
3. K&N filter, remove silencer
4. 2.5" catback of choice
5. 65mm throttle body
6. 2.5" off road H/X pipe

If it were me, I'd start like this. That'll get you going for now.

oh yeah i forgot about the air silencer. i would stick with the unequals, i heard they make a lil more power, but are harder to install and burn plug wires.

They make slightly less peak, but slightly more average. They sound like an even tradeoff performance-wise such as the H vs. X theory. But unlike the H vs. X theory, with equal lengths plugs will be more of a hassle. I'm not trying to steer you away from equal lenghts. That decision is up to you. But, I figure you posted this thread to see our views on it, and I would prefer unequals. Good luck with whatever you decide on.
