I was wondering what would be the best cam for low end but still pretty good top end power also? I don't plan on doing any modifications to the heads in the near future and the modifications I already have are mass air, 70mm tb, bbk shorties, and I don't know if gears would help with the advice but It has 3:73.

An e-cam would let it breath a bit better, it's basically a step up from the cobra. And i just happened to have one for sale, lol.

the biggest nastiest mother****er you can buy!!!! seriously, it depends on what type of person you are. i am a bit conservative so i pick 1 size bigger than what i think is good. if you are gun ho pick one size smaller.

I don't really mind a rough idle but I dont really understand cams very well so I dont know what to make bigger or smaller.

Can't have both. You either have a powerband low, middle or high. Nothing you can do about it n/a. With some form of boost and custom heads/cam/intake you could get a steady powerband across the board.

If you want to go fast in the quarter, get a stage 1 TFS or e-cam. Bigger duration means a higher powerband, and vice versa. That is why you have a nice low powerband now w/ the stock cam.

IMO choosing the right cam for a particular combo has been very time consuming for me. Your best best is to go with a custom cam because the grinder can select cam specs based solely on your combo. The downfall is that they are pricey. Off the shelf cams try to please many combos at once. This makes it very dificult to choose. I would reserarch some combos similar to what you are running or will run and choose the cam accordingly.

Derek

If you search out all the combos on this site that provide a dyno chart and compare them, you will start to see trends that show you which one will meet your needs.

I am convinced that is the way to have the facts, not opinions, at your disposal for the least amount of effort on your part.

If you can throw em in Excell, then they all become crystal clear as to which one does what.
