My 15 year old stock clutch isn't cutting it with my new combo (see sig), so I am thinking about getting a new one before it gets worse. My car is my daily driver that rarely sees the track. What is a good clutch that will grab well and is street friendly? Centerforce DF? King Cobra? Spec stg 1, stg 2?

and the next 5 folks that post will say 5 different clutches.

clutches that grab real well (to me) often equates to something that is on/off, which i think sucks on a DD. organic disks tend to slip more, but that same slippage is nicer for crawling in traffic. do you have to sit in bad traffic and congestion?

I would say an FMS heavy duty or a King Cobra. My car('89) had an HD in it when I got it and I didnt know until I replaced it with the same thing.

I love my Spec Stage 2, but I think a lot of people would consider it too much clutch for daily driving.

Okay, so a King Cobra or Spec stg 1 would be best? What is wrong with the Centerforce DF?

Exactly...my Centerforce Stage II has a very slight stutter to it if I slip the clutch out real slow in traffic. The disc is "skipping" over the flywheel because of the disc contact material. That is what you get for a harder grabbing clutch though along with JT's explanation of the on/offness they can have.

In this case (I had a King Cobra) I would go with a King Cobra it slips just a bit more than the Stage II I have but has a slightly stiffer pedal but has a very nice feel to it

The only Spec I would consider is the Stage II Spec (not to be confused with the Centerforce Stage II which is between the CF Gold series and Dual Friction). The Centeforce Gold Series is the equivalent of the King Cobra or Spec Stage 1 in holding power. I would stick with Ford in this case and go King Cobra.

My experience with centerforce has been rather brutal... Their disks do not hold up. They come apart or slip like crazy and their customer service is TERRIBLE. I have the king cobra now and it works WONDERS pretty heavy on the pedal though.
