Which computer can i get?

I might be in need of a new EEC so im wondering which EEC i can use. I know it has to be a 5-speed but is there a difference between coupe and vert? Can i use either?


And which is better, the T4MO or J4J1? I know a lot, if not all, the tweecer guys use the J4J1 calib.

Just trying to find all my options so if the time comes to find a new EEC.

I hope I don't get owned. lol, but it is my understanding that the MAF calibrations for a GT and a Cobra are both set at 19lbs. The Cobra pcm adjusts the MAF reading (signal) for the larger 24lb injectors.

Also, am I correct is saying that the T4MO is for auto and the J4J1 is for manual GT's? What is the code for the Cobra computers?

1st part is correct

the t4m0 is for 5speed GT's

j4j1 is cobras

Well...if we think about it. If the computer readjusts for 24lb injectors with the SAME maf calibration...then the computer will be "reading" differently and outputting a different value than a GT computer. So if you change that to a 30lb calibrated MAF...the computer that anticipates 19lb injectors and a computer that anticipates 24 lb injectors will need different calibrations.

I got my MAF from Pro-M a couple weeks before they shut down so my calibration SUCKS anyway. :fuss:

I am not exactly sure how the 19lb signal gets converted to a 24lb signal by the the Cobra computer. I was having a problem with my factory MAF. I kept cleaning it to no avail. The car would not run right. I had it replaced with an MAF from a GT and still had problems. I ordered a new one allegedly specific to 94-95 Cobras from Pro-M (via BBK) and have not had a problem since. If you look in the BBK catalog there are two MAF part numbers; both for 24lb injectors. The "C" is the one specific to Cobras. I am therefore confused about the 19 to 24 conversion by the J4J1. :shrug:

j4j1 is for the Cobra only

t4m0 can be found in stick GT's

and

I think they came in stick GT verts also.

See if this helps the confusion about mafs :shrug:

Ford doesn't cal their mafs in the same sense as you usually think about ProM caled mafs for various size inj's.

It is true that the GT & Cobra use the exact same maf.

a) The GT pcm has an inj size value of 19

b) The Cobra pcm has an inj size value of 24

a & b is the main difference between the cars pcm files in this case.

It is true that the maf curve is different between the two cars but it is not much different. Not enough to make any fuss about.

Mafs are about air flow ...... not inj size. With that being said ...................

While the Cobra makes more power than the GT, the additional air flow the Cobra generates is not so much that the GT maf and maf transfer can't be used.

however ................................

The same additional power that the Cobra makes did cause Ford engineers to see the need for the larger 24lb inj's.

This is a perfect time to point out that for a lot of combos..........................

you run out of inj before you run out of maf (pegging the maf)

I love reading about all this computer an tweecer stuff. I just wish I would have learned it sooner before converting to carb...oh wel, there is always next time.

Oh, BTW I have a 94 gt 5 speed computer for sale-pm me if interested
 
Ok guys with that being said...would there be an advantage to me getting a J4J1 eec over another GT? I know that you guys use the J4J1 calibration as a tweecing starting point so maybe its a better starting point for me with the PMS?:shrug:

Detalis of inj size and maf Please.

I have been thinking about several things but i just can't get what I need from etc, etc, etc to go farther with an answer to you.

Ummm im not sure what else you are looking for. 30lb injectors with a Pro-M 80mm MAF that is "so-called" calibrated for 30's but i got it 1 week before them closing so its a TERRIBLE calibration. But the PMS gets it done.

I hope thats it.... :shrug:

I only asked about the maf and inj's cause the info ain't in your sig and I can't remember everybody's combos details.

I'm know nothing about tuning with a PMS but do you build a maf curve? Do you tell the pcm the size inj's your using?

What makes you think the cal is off?

Since you are using 30's then the first thing I would think is that ProM was told you have a GT and 30lb inj's. They then would set the maf up or, calibrate it, based on that info.

If you told them you had 30's and a COBRA then that could be a whole different story.

Again, do you use your PMS to build a maf transfer curve based on the flow sheet ProM sent you and do you use your PMS to tell the pcm the inj size.

I am trying to see if you tune with the PMS by using ProM's cheat method or do you use the PMS to tell the pcm the truth about air flow and inj size.
