which headers

i was wondering. i have a 98 gt. i was looking to put some headers on this winter. i have a magnaflow cat-back on right now, and am looking to get a high flow h or x pipe. would long tubes or shorties be best for me. also, if i were to do a head swap in the future, would i have to get different headers. the bbk long tubes i was looking at were only for the 96-98. i figure it is just because of the different exhaust set up or maybe because of the head design. Please help me out with this. i dont have much time to make up my mind as of what to do. This is my christmas present. thanks.

the non-pi head & pi head is obviously a different design, BUT, the exhaust ports are exactly the same :nice: so you could switch the headers if you did the swap. & i'd definately go with the long tubes, more power is always better :D

welcome to stangnet, michael.

check the shops around you to see if you can pass emissions(or know someone that can let you slide) with longtubes. something you got to consider is the install of the headers, you have to move the engine and k member.

That won't be a problem since he lives in Michigan, not very strict at all there.

thanks guys. there is this place called alternative performance, and the owner lidio has modded mustangs that have showed up in mm&ff and 5.0. I am looking at a hefty chunk for install, somethine like 600, but i would rather not do it. he also knows the guys over at livernois and a small shop called performance fabrication and engineering(exhaust systems). they all advised me to get long tubes also. And you guys were right, emissions are not that bad here, so its no big deal. It was just that a guy i knew told me that shorties were better for light to light driving and that i would only reap the benefits of long tubes with extensive mods and on the strip. either way, i found some bbk's for cheap. What the heck, its my baby, and i want it to sound and run good. thanks again!!
