Which headers?

Just a few questions about headers for all you seasoned bolt-on guys. I have an 04' vert with all the basic bolt-ons except headers and I am thinking about going with a set of shorties. I already have a UPR catted x-pipe and I also have a full tubular K-member up front, so I am hoping that will make the install a little easier. Just a few questions:
1. If I plan on staying N/A how much rwhp difference would there actually be between long tubes and shorties?
2. Since I have a tubular k-member could I do the install myself?
3. What are the options for shorty headers? (Kinda leaning toward the FRPP ceramic shorties, what type of gains could I expect with these?)

Thanks guys!!!:nice:

ive heard that shortys on a modular arent worth the money or instal hastle. Most guys jump strait to long tube. it kind of stinks cause you have to buy a new mid pipe, but hey you can always re-sell your used pipes.

i'd go midlength via Bassani, yes a new midpipe will be needed, but there is no more then 2 hp difference, no ground clearance lost, and fits around every K member i have seen so far including theMM one (arguable the largest tubular one). but i am a bassani fan....

I would go with SLP or Kooks

My SLP LT's are great! The fit was awesome and I haven't had any issues out of them so far :nice:

Shorties are a waste of time and money on these cars, so don't even mess with those.

The Bassani's are alright, but I wasn't too impressed with them when I had to install them on a buddy's Cobra.. They were just kinda.. Sub-par

Would a new midpipe be needed if you already have a Bassani midpipe? Couldn't you just take the cats off & reuse the mid-section?

as long as you got the 5 piece, then they have blanks at the end that are removed, so yes it would work.

also, the bassani makes two levels of their gear, the BX and performance. the BX is mostly the same but a bit cheaper quality.... th performance i have had my hands on and really like it.

I have BBK long tubes on my auto and I have a PA racing k-member......the sounds and performance gain after a good tune is phenominal.....you may have to grind the flange allitle on the passenger side header towards the rear......kinda like 1/8th to 1/4 in away from the tranny oil pan.....and you have to install the 02 sensor on the opposite side!
