I am getting ready to install some borla side exits mufflers and i was wondering what mid pipe will give me the biggest increase in loudness..I know a H will make it deeper but what about louder?

from reviews that I've read out of mustang magazines where they dyno tested different x-pipes to see hp gains they tested 1 h-pipe... when the x-pipes were on they were standing behind the car, but when they dyno tested the h-pipe they said it was so loud they had to move away...

From the H/X's I've heard, the H's are louder and less nascarish. But I think you're going to get mostly opinionated responses here, I haven't read any articles which actually measured the decibel's produced.

I have a friend with a bassani o/r x on his 00gt attached to some flows, and his sounds a little louder then mine. but everyone thats heard it including my self all agree that it sounds like crap, its way to raspy and is makes an ugly metallic popping sound when every he lets off the gas

I've had and heard both set ups with the same exhaust on a couple of occasions. The H is definitely louder.

My x pipe is loud, but the exhaust could be louder. The x pipe starts to get raspy around 3000 rpm.

we have a wide variety in the group of mustangers I hang out with and I have to say the h is louder. dont like the way an x sounds, very raspy.

great comparison dude....

i'd say H pipes are louder but I've never seen them tested for sound levels on any car.

Ive got a 2 1/2 H on my '75 F250 and it is very, very loud.

ya i have an o/r H on my cobra... sounds amazing!!! the only setup with an x pipe i like is my friend 00 stage 2 roush..... now that thing sounds AMAZING.. not as loud as mine, but i'd trade my exhaust for his in a minute!

I am running a catted SLP X with a Borla stinger catback. It is LOUD.

If you start cmoparing X vs H then both combos can be made loud and it is just a question of which sound you like.

I have an O/R X-Pipe and it's plenty loud for me with the LTs and Magnapacks... Almost too loud lol.
