Just wanted to see if anyone has tried the newer (?) Permatex
"Gear Oil RTV Sealant" when sealing their differential cover/girdle back up...

I was planning on using Permatex "Ultra Grey Silicone Gasket Maker" but their newer Gear Oil product caught my eye. Anyone in here use this stuff or should I just stick with the Ultra Grey ?

Thx.

Can't hurt to try the new stuff. If it's around the same price, I say go for it.

I didn't see the "Gear Oil RTV Sealant" while at the parts store yesterday so I just went with the Ultra Grey stuff for the gasket.

Unfortunately my gasket making skills will have to wait a little longer due to a glitch with my Granatelli diff cover/girdle installation:

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

I use the form-a-gasket stuff you put on with a brush for almost everything.

I've used it a couple of times on two different cars, everything ok to this point.
