I believe on the left side it's the coolant sensor, but I accidently broke the one of the right (circled in picture)

What is it called and where to get and for how much?

A quick response is needed

im almost certain thats the coolant sensor

The one circled would be on the drivers side.

If it's the coolant one, what is the other?

Hey D I was successful in making the intake swap on my 98 GT. Only thing I did was break the cable for the crusise control..lol But it was by accident and stupidity, other than that it took 2 1/2 hours to swap out. Putting it on was simple. Just taking the crap off was a pain. Ill post a pic of my old manifold and the crack in it when I find my USB cable for my camera

Yeah, I wanted to tackle my install earlier this week, though things came up.

Im working on removing the things right now and will probably call it a night due to me breaking this damn sensor

How did you do the fuel rails? Im not too far into my install

I need to find out the name of this stupid sensor so I can pick one up ASAP.

Well you are supposed to have a special tool to remove the fuel rails, but I made a custom tool to seperate the spring from the connector then pulled them apart, they were the biggest pain!!!!

They are both coolant sensors. 99 and up did away with the drivers side i'm pretty sure.

I might be wrong, though one is different than the other? I don't know if they could interchange

Am I wrong?

Any general idea what one of these will cost?

also, are you positive it's a coolant sensor

The one on the drivers side is the ECT sensor. It is for the temp gauge.
The one on the passanger side is the ECT sender. It sends info to the EEC.
They are not interchangable.

Someone was attempting to tell me that it'd be around $150 but maybe that would be for the sender to the eec, and not the sender to the guage

I sure hope so.

My $200 project would nearly double if I had to buy a $150 part =(

Do you have a picture of the bottom of the fuel rail or could you explain what type of "tool" I will need to pull the rail off

Im not at the car but will be soon, and figured I could get this done if someone could explain it

I took a zip tie, cut it so it fit perfectly around the round piece on the fuel rail connector, slid it into it. Kinda hard to explain. But if you examine it real well you will see what I mean. You have to seperate the spring lock from the end of the connector to allow it to free itself.

You remove the two lines labeled "fuel line connections" in this picture.






You use a tool that looks something like this. Mine came six to a pack and were different sizes and marked by different colors. I needed two of the tools, one for each connection. (You use the same tool for removing your fuel filter too). You can buy these at any autoparts store for somewhere around $10.00 for a complete pack.

I have the tool for the fuel filter, so hopefully it will work

Alright, got the old out and will start putting the new in tomorrow. I've been taking everything slow and im not in a real hurry to get it finished.


There is a spacer that was on my factory intake which goes between the Plenum/Intake Manifold.. Should I put this on the new one?

I'll go ahead and change the plugs tomorrow since it's a clear shot to the passenger side back plug (usually hard to get to).

Injectors are a bit dirty, though i'll clean this up tomorrow also.
