Hi Guys,

I've started noticing a small whine in my transmission, it's more audible in 3rd gear and at around 2k rpms.

Now, I'm not sure if this sound was there before, but I started hearing it after a few days ago when I switched from the stock shifter to a steeda tri-ax.

The whine sounds a bit like a whipple, but must more quiet of course, and it's only heard in the inside.

The car is a 2001 with a TR3650 tranny. Does anyone also hear this noise? Is it simply because I went from a stock shifter into a aftermarket one that I'm hearing it more (different seal and such)???

I appreciate any input.

does the car have trouble shifting into any gear? did you set the stops on the tri-ax in the right place? Are you sure the sound is coming from the trans, and not the rear end, or driveshaft?

- no trouble shifting into gears

- the stops are set where I thought seemed fine. I'm not able to slam the forks, but at the same time, the gears are attaching first shot.

- definately coming from the tranny, I drove it without the rubber shields and interior moulding and I could DEFINATELY tell it's from the tranny.

About the stops in the tri-ax, if say, I were to set them too far away, would it cause this whining? And why?

My tranny has a slight whining noise in 3rd gear also. It's been doing it for 4yrs now. I'm not to concerned about right now. The car goes into all gears with no problems. I also have a MGW shifter and the noise is the same pitch and sound. Pearl02.

dam it I just heard this whining noise like every body say, only heard in 3th gear at low speed like 20-30mph. Stock shifter. and before I use regular vavoline auto tranny fluid it no noise , but after I swith to Royal Purple a month later I heard it. no one come up with a fix yet ? any one think its could be cold weather ?
