Trying to decide if it's worth the money to pick up an oil separator. Is it cheap insurance, or most likely just unnecessary? I haven't owned a Mustang since I sold my 03 Cobra in 2005, so please educate me!

I installed the UPR brand. Easy 5 minute install and every two weeks I check it and dump out about 1 teaspoon of oil. As you said cheap insurance.

^^ This! I prefer the UPR catch can over the other brands as well. Pm @Sharad for your UPR needs

I'm still waiting for someone to make one with a sight gauge.

This guy has the right idea:

http://modernmoparforum.com/topic/16215-my-diy-easy-drain-catch-can/

The only thing I think he's missing is a simple solution to his automatic drain. I would just use a one-way ball valve in the drain line. Engine vac will keep it closed anytime it's running.

Check out Bob's catch can too. This video doesn't do all the brands, but neat nonetheless.

That video is interesting but if you have that much blow-by, I believe you have bigger problems that a catch can will not solve. Bob's is definitely the best in that video but for every day driving I'm pretty sure you'll be fine with any of those. I had a JLT in my 2012 and I didn't have an ounce of oil in a month.
