Who here has a PI Stallion converter in their auto?

I've searched thru the forums threads and found 1 person that had a written review of their converter so hopefully this will draw some of the others out. I had a PI 2800 converter in my old *cough* GM *cough* car and the performance gains were nothing short of awsome. Just wondering what kind of gains everyone has gotten.

i've had my 3800 stall since last october. haven't taken it to the track since, but it'll roast the tires now at any speed under 50mph.

Most excellent. Are you glad you went with the 3800 stall? Does it drive loose, tight, ect....

shift kit or full j-mod is a good idea to accompany a stall TC cuz it will "loosen" the first couple shifts. I went w/ Spec-Rite torque converters out of Redding, CA. Stayed modest w/ a 3200 stall, which is perfect for my torque powerband tho. PI's are very good and expensive

I have a PI 2800 with a J-mod'd valve body and 4.10's. For a street car, to me it's perfect but you can go as high as 3200 (others had that stall).

Loss of traction accompanies a stall and steep gears, so beware

I know the PIs are a bit more than the other brands but to me you don't want to go cheap on something drivetrain related. I believe they are running about $700 which is ok with me. Just gotta read up on the j-mod.

I'm thinking a 3200 stall with stock gearing for starters would be alright. I ran a 2800 w/2.73 in my old car and it drove pretty tight.

not exactley sure what you mean by loose or tight. when it's unlocked, the rpm really jump when giving it any gas. when it's locked, there is absolutely no slippage. when i punch it, my rpm goes straight to about 4000rpm, right at the start of my powerband. if my car was a daily driver, i wouldn't have gone with 3800 stall. but since it's only a weekend toy, i decided to go for it.

Loose meaning you are having to really get on the gas and get the rpms up to start moving. The PIs are known to drive tight with their Vigilante series so i'll assume their other products are similiar. I just don't want to have the car at 2000 rpms and hardly be moving like some of the higher stalls do.

it only slipps when given a goodf amount of gas, otherwise it'll lock up and you wont see a difference

you would consider mine loose in that case. it does take a little more throttle to get the car moving at a slower acceleration rate than the stock convertor.but when you floor it, it's a whole 'nother story.
