Ok i'm not sure on the year of jetta but it's a newer one (mid 90's) that my land lord has, and they wanted to know how to change the trans fluid (auto). I told them i wasent sure if there was a drain plug or if you had to drop th whole pan? Any ideas? peace

I have a 97, but its a manual.

might I add its a pos, water dripping, clunking, guttles piece of german engineering. Its also my wifes car. She thought it was cute.

trying to picture one and a drain plug is not poping in to my head. on the guttless part its probly a 2.0 the 1.8t and the vr6 arnt bad but by no means are they a v8 mustang.

On the manual there is a drain plug on the side of the trans. As far as the auto, I'm not sure, I have only owned manual Jettas... I would have to guess that there would ba a drain of some sort..
