Who needed a starter heat shield with their LT's?

I'm almost ready to install my new MAC Ceramic coated LT's, and I was wondering if anybody needed a heat shield because of failing starters....

They sell a DEI heat wrap kit at summit...

I have not had any trouble with my BBK LT's (no coating). I installed my headers in the summer, and went through weeks of 95-105* weather with no starting troubles.

I have MACs uncoated and no trouble with the starter.

I have yet to have any starter/heatsoak issues from the LTs...I believe I sent you that pic that showed the proximity of the tube to the starter...That heat wrap prolly wouldn't be a bad idea for peace of mind...But I don't think its an issue that comes up, rarely if at all.....

I work at an exhaust shop when I get a free couple of days and I've always wrapped the starter with a little bit of heat wrap, like RIO said, just for the piece of mind. With my luck, someone will come back saying I was the reason their car caught on fire or something....

It doesn't seem to be nearly as prevalent on the mini-starters (which SN95's come with stock).

Hot days last summer .. never had a problem with the starter.

Cool.. then I'll pick up a set of o2 extensions locally from a friend for $20... and I will not order the heat wrap for the starter... saving me $26 once it all said and done with Summit....
