Don't you think you should have researched the availability of hi-octane gas before you decided on 11:1?

Racing gas/boosters are very expensive over time.

Yes I should have done more research. I do recall numerous threads on this site saying 11:1 is ok on premium pump gas. From the responses in this topic, it looks like most of these people live out of "Kalifornia." On the other hand this will not be a daily driver.

My intention was to run around 10:1-10.5:1, but my 352 (302, 3.4 stoke @ 60 over) was decked to 0 by the previous owner and with flattop pistons, 64 cc cylinder head, and standard head gasket thickness 0.040 is around 11:1.

I'm looking into thicker (custom) head gaskets?

Don't worry about it yet. If it pings, then worry. Going bigger on the HG could cause a bigger problem if you screw up the quench. Then it pings easier.

I am running something like 11.3:1 on mine and it turns over fine. Although my starter does smoke. I will be needing to replace that soon.

11 to 1's nothing a good starter can't handle. The key here is a GOOD starter. Went thru all that with my 12 to 1 427 and Hooker headers.

strange in Detroit you can get 92, 93, and 94 just have to look around a bit some stations even have 92 and 94, and best of all is theres a decent amount of stations that sell racing fuel right out of the pump.
